Sam grew up in Southampton Township, New Jersey, and is a graduate of Lenape High School in Medford, New Jersey. He graduated from Star Technical Institute with certifications in phlebotomy and EKG in 1993 and completed Burlington County's EMT program, which led him to a position in Virtua Mount Holly’s emergency room, where he discovered his passion for healthcare. While working in the emergency room, phlebotomy department, and physical therapy departments of the hospital, Sam attended Burlington County College in Pemberton, New Jersey, and graduated with an Associate of Science degree.

He then went on to Stockton State College and ultimately transferred to MCP Hahnemann University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and completed their physician assistant program in 2000. Over his career, Sam has worked in internal medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, and orthopedics.

When not working, Sam enjoys the beach, playing golf, skiing, mountain biking, and vacationing with his wife and three children.
