Dr. Klingenstein’s unique specialty is getting people back to the activities they love

Dr. Gregory Klingenstein, joint replacement and revision surgeon specializing in hip, knee and orthopedic trauma at Virtua Reconstructive Orthopedics, has a very unique niche: hip preservation. In fact, he is one of the few doctors in the Northeast that has fellowship training specifically in hip preservation.

What is hip preservation?

Hip preservation is an advanced, state-of-the-art procedure that has two functions:
1. Repairing damage to the tissues in the hip
2. Fixing the underlying bone deformities present

Dr. Klingenstein completed this advanced training through a fellowship specifically focused on hip preservation at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He now uses his expertise to treat those most commonly identified as ideal candidates for this procedure, athletes and active persons.

One such patient is Michael Mann, a Special Forces military veteran in his mid-thirties, who recently underwent this procedure. When Mann came back from serving our country, he had underlying bone issues in his hip that limited his mobility and caused constant pain, so he sought out the expert care of Dr. Klingenstein. The day after his hip preservation surgery, Mann said his pain was greatly lessened and he had more mobility than before the surgery. With time, he returned to high impact weight lifting and long distance running.

Another patient, Doug Rose, was a junior level hockey player whose dream of being in the NHL was threatened by severe hip pain. Watch his story here.
