Seth Stake, M.D.
Seth Stake, M.D., is a joint replacement surgeon at Virtua Reconstructive Orthopedics, with a focus on the treatment of degenerative hip and knee conditions.
Dr. Stake is fellowship-trained in adult reconstruction (hip and knee replacement). He takes an individualized approach to evaluating and treating each patient, offering a range of treatment options, not just surgery. For patients who are surgical candidates, Dr. Stake specializes in minimally invasive total hip and knee replacement (quad-sparing) as well as partial knee replacement. His expertise also encompasses revision hip and knee replacements as well as advanced surgical approaches, such as robotic-assisted surgery and direct anterior hip replacement.
Dr. Stake’s interest in orthopedic care started after seeing the tangible impact it had on a family member who had an orthopedic injury during his medical training. Never settling, his passion is firmly rooted in providing the best possible care for his patients, and is further driven by the continued advancement and research in new and optimized treatment options.
Dr. Stake received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude at Lehigh University and his medical degree Cum laude at Thomas Jefferson University. During medical school, he was elected to three different honor societies, including the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed an orthopedic residency at The George Washington University followed by an adult reconstruction fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Stake has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, such as the The Journal of Arthroplasty, The Bone & Joint Journal, and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is an active member in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and has delivered numerous presentations at national meetings for these groups.
Outside of the office, Dr. Stake enjoys staying active with his wife and children.
